About Ashley

I'm Ashley Hendrix, the founder and writer behind North & Common.

By day, I'm a product and marketing executive. Outside of work, I've spent years figuring out the things nobody really teaches you how to manage: buying and renovating homes, making financial decisions, dealing with contractors, and keeping all the moving pieces of life organized.

Then my dad died, and the learning curve got much steeper.

Almost overnight, I found myself dealing with trusts, banks, mortgages, property, accounts, paperwork and all of the practical responsibilities that arrive alongside grief. I was constantly researching what to do next, and I was surprised by how difficult it was to find clear answers from people who had actually been through it.

North & Common grew out of that experience.

I write about what I've learned firsthand, what I wish I'd known earlier, and the resources that genuinely made things easier. When a topic requires expertise I don't have, I rely on primary sources and qualified professionals rather than pretending otherwise.

The goal isn't to have all the answers. It's to make the next complicated thing a little easier to figure out.
